Happy New Year…reflection and the future

Happy New Year! May 2013 be all you hope for!

As the new year starts, it is the time I reflect on the past year and plan for the new year. 2012 was the year of the new shop location. A year ago at this time I was contemplating moving, little did I know at the time, an opportunity to relocate would be coming my way. I relocated the shop in March and I have been very pleased with the move. I more than tripled the space, which allowed me to carry a nice variety of antiques of all sizes, pieces I made, and a nice assortment of items made by some very talented local artists. The holiday season was a great success. I was overwhelmed by the support of shop regulars and the many new friends I met.

In 2013 I will be further expanding the shop’s wide selection of eclectic and unique offerings. I have been talking with many talented local artists about carrying some of their items. I will be busy the next couple of months making all types of lights that were such a popular item last year. I am also going to expand my collection of nautical items, which was popular with both the shop regulars and tourists visiting the seacoast.

I have a number of local and out-of-state trips planned, searching for those unique items for the shop. I do love shopping! I will post my finds on this blog and Facebook.

If you have not already done so, please like Appletree Cottage on Facebook. Thank you!

Thank you for your continued support in 2012. Please stop in to get out of the cold and say hi. I look forward to seeing you soon.

Warm regards, Anne

Back to School Time/Fall Hours

It is with mixed feelings that I look forward to fall. It is my favorite season of the year. I enjoy the cool nights and the foliage, but I don’t enjoy the shorter days and the looming winter. I also miss my kids at this time of year as they all head back to school.

Before the kids headed back to school we enjoyed a nice week-long family vacation in mid Coast Maine. While on vacation I attended some flea markets, an auction and rummaged through many antique shops. I also met some talented Maine artists and craftsmen and have started carrying some interesting new items. Needless to say the shop is full of some great “new”  and unique items.

I found some great architectural pieces to continue to make the most funky, one of a kind lamps. This past week I made all types of lamps (clam bucket, wood buoy, phonograph, funnel) and have plans to make a half-dozen more in the coming weeks.

I have a beautiful hoosier and some unique tables and side boards in the shop that won’t last long. They are in great shape and were a great vacation find!

Starting the week of September 17 I will be changing to my normal fall hours of 10 AM to 5 PM, Tuesday to Saturday and 11AM to 4 PM on Sundays. Still closed on Mondays. I can always open by appointment. This has been very convenient for my out of state customers. This year I will again have extended shopping hours and special events in November and December.

I am approaching my second anniversary for Appletree Cottage and have started the planning process for our 2nd Anniversary Customer Appreciation Days for October 5 and 6. I will be posting details here on my blog and on Facebook shortly.

Thank you for your continued support, I look forward to seeing you soon.

Warm regards, Anne
